SEO and PPC Tools for Web Professionals

In the good old days of search, SEO and PPC were dark arts practised on late nights by technical wizards with too much time on their hands. Now search engine marketing is less art, more measured science and the days of top secret quick wins and link black magic are over. Instead, there are few secrets, and the skill is in the implementation of well known best practice.

The aim of The SEMpai is to bring some of these techniques together into quick and simple free tools, so that search marketing professionals can save time getting daily data, and spend more time using it.

This is a long term project, and will not be complete in the forseeable future, so please do check back regularly to see what's new and what's changed. The tools currently available are:

Keywords

• PPC Keyword Generator - Generate many keywords from a few simple combinations. Ideal for capturing the long tail in PPC campaigns, and reducing campaign CPCs.

SEO Accessibility

• HTTP Response Checker - Enter a URL and find out what HTTP responses are returned by the server. Ideal for checking 301 redirects, or for checking a 404 page actually returns a valid 404 response code.
• Multi URL HTTP Response Checker - Get HTTP response codes for a batch of URLs.

On Page SEO

• Page Keyword Analyser - Reports on all instances of a keyword within a page, including phrase or partial matches within META data, ALT and TITLE tags, H1 tags and body copy.
• ALT Tag List - Lists all images on a page in a table, showing their ALT and TITLE tag values. Allows you to spot missing ALT and TITLE tags, or images where the tags could be improved.
• Page Link List - Lists all links on a page in a table, along with their HREF, TITLE and anchor text values. An easy check to look for dodgy links, and a good reference to help improve keyword use in TITLE tags and anchor text.
